The Slug and its Trail

The Slug and its Trail

Two lonely slugs sensed each other across the hall carpet.
“May I join you?” asked one.
“Of course,” answered the other.
“How will I find you?”
“I left a trail.”

But the trail was a maze of silvery secretions, veering first this way, then that, and twenty minutes later, the slug had still not reached its end.

“This trail of yours,” the slug complained. “It’s all over the place. I’m sure I’ve been going round in circles.”
“That can’t be right. I always travel straight ahead,” replied the other. “But keep going. If you don’t find me at the end of it, you’ll find someone else.”
